Police work near the scene where French soldiers were injured by a vehicle in the western Paris suburb of Levallois-Perret.Police searching for a driver who sped off after ploughing into soldiers patrolling an upmarket Paris suburb have shot and arrested a man on a motorway north of Paris.

Security sources told AFP that the arrest was linked to Wednesday morning’s attack, which injured six members of the 35th infantry regiment, though there was no official confirmation. The attack occurred at about 8am during the changeover of soldiers stationed at Place de Verdun, not far from the town hall in Levallois-Perret. Brigitte Macron’s role will be made clear when a ‘transparency charter’ is published in the coming days. The French president’s wife, Brigitte Macron, will not be given an official “first lady” title or her own budget, the French government has said following a petition against a proposed change to her status.

A “transparency charter” will be published in the next few days to clarify the position of Emmanuel Macron’s wife, but presidential aides insist her role will be strictly public and not political. Pastors from 20 churches in Eldoret, Kenya, march and pray for peaceful elections.An estimated 180,000 police officers and members of the security forces are being deployed across Kenya as the country prepares to vote on Tuesday in a fiercely contested presidential election.

Voters will either return the incumbent, Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been in power since 2013, or elect the veteran opposition politician Raila Odinga. Recent opinion polls have not indicated any clear leader in the campaign and turnout will be a key factor. Read more HERE
