The US attorney general, William Barr, has authorized federal prosecutors to begin investigating “substantial allegations” of voter irregularities across the country in a stark break with longstanding practice and despite a lack of evidence of any major fraud having been committed.
The intervention of Barr, who has frequently been accused of politicizing the DoJ, comes as Donald Trump refuses to concede defeat and promotes a number of legally meritless lawsuits aimed at casting doubt on the legitimacy of the election. Read more HERE.

Donald Trump refused to formally concede the US election on Saturday, even as senior Republicans began to distance themselves and as recriminations were reported among aides to a president doomed to electoral defeat. Before the race was called on Saturday morning, Trump continued to tweet his defiance and to attract censure from Twitter for making baseless claims about voter fraud and his supposed victory. Brazilian officers had already seized 1.5 tonnes before vessel slipped out of São Sebastião
A team of customs agents and Guardia Civil and national police officers intercepted the Unispirit 50 nautical miles off the island of Gran Canaria on October 16, and after escorting the vessel into port they conducted a painstaking five-day search of its cargo. Hidden among sacks containing 3,500 tonnes of corn, they found 1,210 kilos of cocaine. Read more HERE.
An estimated 2,000 worshippers celebrating the Mawlid, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, took to the streets in the eastern city of Lahore. Crowds led by Islamic parties chanted anti-France slogans, raised banners and clogged major roads en route to a Sufi shrine.

Large-scale search and rescue operation launched in Channel after report of vessel in difficulty. Search operations are ongoing after a migrant boat sank off the coast of France.
Eighteen people have been taken to hospital, according to French authorities, after the incident on Tuesday. Military resources as well as civilian boats have been involved in the rescue operation after the vessel was seen to be in difficulty near Dunkirk. The people are thought to have been trying to cross to the UK, despite wind gusts of up to 18mph. Read more HERE.
